Memorial Weekend!

Happy Tuesday!

We had a great and busy memorial weekend!  Hans' parents Miriam and Alan traveled from Arkansas to  visit us..

Nolan  had his first time in his new pool. He absolutely hated it.

 It didn't help that Hans bought the pool with a huge whale attached to it.  Pretty frightening.

After we took him out of the pool he fell asleep. Pretty sure he was FAKE sleeping so we wouldn't put him back in the pool..

Happy 1/2 Birthday Nolan!

Happy Thursday!

Today is Nolan's HALF birthday and hes really been living it up!  He already fit in the 12 month old birthday shirt a friend got him so we got use out of that as well!

He was only allowed one friend for his party..so Banks was invited by default.

Nolan started out the day by crawl hopping!! You probably already received the video below.. but if you missed it or FORGOT to watch it here it is below..It's a pretty big leap!

After that exciting event Nolan & I walked behind our house to the church's annual bake sale to try and find Hans a banana cream pie (even though if you recall from my earlier blog Hans does not "celebrate" half birthdays..Nolan and I chose to be the bigger people and still try and include him in the day by getting him a pie).   However, Nolan was bombarded by old people touching him and asking me how much he costs.  Nolan gave me his big eyed look that means "MOM get me the heck out of here!!" So I scanned the burnt cookies and  we ran out...Pie-less.  That's what Hans get's for not celebrating 1/2 birthdays!

On our way home our neighbor was having a garage sale.  Nolan got  2 great presents and a teeter totter all brand new for $3! We couldn't believe our luck!  He is having the best 1/2 birthday ever at this point!

By the time we got home it was pretty obvious Banks joined "Team Hans" on the whole 1/2 birthday strike...

 For Nolan's 1/2 birthday lunch we went to Texas Roadhouse.  They have charity lunches and this one was for special olympics.  Since my sweet little cousin participates in this we like to go and donate for the cause. 
I tried to sneak Nolan some applesauce for his birthday but Team Hans said no. After lunch I had to go to work..which was probably a good thing since my family was annoyed at my enthusiasm at this point.

 Hans and I have been searching frantically for the Redbox movie we rented last Thursday..our bill is now up to  $6.  (And we haven't even gotten to watch it yet..) When I find the dumb movie I'm going to snap it in half because I'm so frustrated with it!

On a more exciting note..two more days until Nolan's half birthday!

Garage Saleing!

Hans and I had a great & busy week. I couldn't sleep Friday night because Saturday we had one of the biggest garage sale weekends of the year.  I don't know why garage sales excite me so much...probably because when I was little my mom used to take me and let me buy fantastic things..like fake fur coats.  Some of my A+  finds this weekend were a brand new Gap baby sports jacket for $3.50, Fisher price barn $3, bright yellow shorts for myself for $1.00, and some cute jeans for $2 that I will NEVER fit into. 

Saturday we went to my friend Annalise's housewarming party..Nolan got a little sweaty which is why he is stripped down..

I am really excited for this week. Nolan turns 6 months on Thursday!  Hans is against and doesn't celebrate "half birthdays"... so Nolan and I are going to have a big party!

Baby Garske..hurry up!

Nolan and I are PATIENTLY awaiting the arrival of Baby girl Garske.  While she's not actually due to come until May 20th it seems like she should come out NOW.  And I'm not even the pregnant one..

Nolan is beyond excited to meet his new friend..(although he doesn't know it yet.. right now he's too enthralled with flirting with Baby Garske's mom.)

We took these pictures JUST IN case they decide to get married someday..it would be pretty cute for the wedding video (Not like we are going to push it or force them or anything..)

At least Nolan will have a friend to endure the below with pretty soon....(in my defense of being a bad mom these were suppose to be for Halloween but my beast of a son is growing so fast he had to wear them in May!)

Happy Mother's Day to my best friend! I'm so very thankful for all the millions of things my mom as done for me over the past 27 years! (yes I'm that old..shut it)

I decided last week I was a bad mom for never putting shoes on Nolan.  It also doesn't help that he already has smelly feet (inherited from Hans not me..)  so I needed to put something over them to mask the smell in public.

Here's what we were working with...simple & stylish..how could he not love them?

Quick nap.. (where I was hoping he would lose all memory of the shoes)

First thing he did when he woke up..

Then he had a Revelation... I can kick my mom in the stomach HARDER with these shoes!! I think I like them now! (yes those Christmas tree pants are my legs..don't judge me.)

 I've decided to try shoes again when he's around 3.

Grandpa J babysits..

We were so lucky to get the help from my dad last week to babysit Nolan.  Nolan had SO much fun with Grandpa J while I was at work!  Maybe a little TOO much as Friday morning Nolan got up with the birds at 5 AM and I'm pretty sure it was just because he wanted to play with Grandpa.

Nolan & Banks are really starting to become friends. I caught some cute cuddle pics of them together the other morning.  I didn't set this up at all...

Rough life..
