Nolan's first birthday!

My little Noles Canoles turned one last Saturday and we had quite the party for him!  (I MAY have had more fun then him).

Since we had THOUSANDS of boxes from the move I made him a box car.

He wasn't impressed...but he humored me and played with it for some pictures ...

The steering wheel was ripped off in 2 seconds...piece of crap car.

It sure tasted good though!

We also had a makeshift photo booth for his party..

Grandma Miriam being slightly inappropriate for a 1 year old photo booth..

Grandpa G..(who was in the process of remodeling our bathroom) and Grandpa J (who was in the process of painting Nolan's room).

Nolan was super creeped out by both of them.

Our fam!

Nolan with his grandparents

All of us! (He has no chance..)

Present time! He got trucks, books, blocks, and lots more!

Hugging on his new Tigger..

Next it was time for cake! Even though Elmo is going through some pretty crazy allegations in the news right now..we still kept him on the cake.

 Nolan's smash cake!

He enjoyed his first ever taste of cake & frosting!

What is this?

This is amazing...is this a joke?

THIS IS SO AWESOME I LOVE CAKE!

Sugar high!! AHHH!!!

 I will demolish you cake!

Last big bite before we were evil and took it away.

Nolan showed his appreciation for his birthday at the end of the day by throwing one of his new wooden blocks at my head and giving me a huge welt on my forehead. Happy 1st birthday Nolan!

I will be wearing a helmet for your second birthday!

Nolan's fairy room

Nolan's room got painted this weekend thanks to my dad..and a little bit my mom...and a tiny bit me.

This is Nolan's room before..There were fairies EVERYWHERE..Fairy border, fairies in the closet, fairies all over the walls! I don't know how the little girl who lived here felt safe to sleep in this room!

Please excuse his robber outfit..(we had just come in from playing outside)

Nolan secretly loved the fairies..that's why Hans made us take them down..

So the fairies were stripped off and painting was started...

It was after the whole room was painted that I decided the color looked nothing like it was suppose to.  The "Cinnamon cake" color should have been named "white cake"!

I'm pretty sure I heard my dad give a small sigh but he told me to go back to home depot and pick a color I like and that my first color had made a good toner for the wall. Thanks dad! So I went to Home Depot with my mom and picked the color "cozy cottage".  How could that name not be the perfect color?!

And it was! Here's Nolan's new room!

We took off the closet doors to paint and I decided I liked the room better with them off. Can you find the baby in this picture?  (He's hiding in the football toy box).

Peekaboo!

Nolan doesn't even miss the fairies! Thank you dad!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are getting settled in our new house! (And I've finally found and unpacked my laptop)

We are blessed to have BOTH sets of parents with us for Thanksgiving week.  Last year our parents came to Iowa to spend Thanksgiving with us because I was 9 months pregnant.  I had gone into labor when they were both on their way.  As Nolan decided to take 33 hours to come out they ended up eating a frozen pizza for Thanksgiving & I ended up eating jello... but we got the best little boy ever in the last 15 minutes of Thanksgiving day.  This year we made sure to have a fabulous feast!

Nolan running around in his new house!

I'm very thankful for all the their help with the new house.
My dad painting our mailbox post for us.

Alan and Hans worked on our deck.

Miriam taught Nolan how to pick his nose.

Nolan thrilled that he's a turkey baby.

Enjoying his Thanksgiving dinner. Never sure how he fits all the food he eats into his little body.

All cleaned up and hair done courtesy of grandma Gustaf.
Amazingly he still had room for his nightime bottle.

Right now everyone is again doing projects around the house. I'm acting as supervisor or operations manager by occasionally going to check up on their progress and encourage them. (Sometimes I even go as far as to bring them water or if there really lucky hawaiian punch).  I did help with painting for a bit... but I am taking a little break now and getting ready for Nolan's birthday tomorrow! :)
